Your notes are never hostage. They are plain Markdown files in your own iCloud Drive. Without a licence FoldNotes still opens, reads, searches and previews every note, and still exports them as plain Markdown. Only editing, and the conversions — Word, Bike packages, PDF and EPUB binding — wait for a licence.

What you get with either plan

• The full app: outliner, folding and hoisting, tasks, tags, properties, saved queries, database views, Manuscript Bind, the fn command line tool.
• Bike outlines edited in place, with Bike links, the Bike Board and database views across every outline you have.
• Automatic updates, delivered by the app itself.
• Activation on up to three Macs that you own. Deactivate one from the app’s Licence menu to move to another.
• Your notes stay plain Markdown files in your iCloud Drive. No account with us, ever. The licence key is the only thing you sign in with.

Questions people ask before buying

What does lifetime mean? All updates to FoldNotes for Mac for as long as we make it, on your three Macs. Not a version. Not a year of updates. Once.

What happens if I stop a yearly subscription? You keep every feature until the end of the period you’ve paid for. After that FoldNotes still opens, reads, searches and previews every note, and exports them as plain Markdown — with the FoldNotes metadata removed, so the files are exactly what you’d write by hand. Editing, and the conversion exports (Word, Bike packages, PDF and EPUB binding, print), wait for a renewal. Your files are never touched, moved or altered.

Can I switch from yearly to lifetime? Yes. Buy a lifetime licence and let the subscription lapse, or write to us and we’ll sort it.

Is there a trial? Seven days, from the first launch, with everything switched on. You don’t need to tell us anything to start it.

Refunds? Fourteen days on any first payment, no questions asked. Details on the refunds page.

Who takes my payment? Our reseller, Paddle. They handle the card, the receipt and the local tax, and they never see your notes. See the privacy policy.

iPhone and iPad? Free on the App Store, and everything in it today stays free. It edits the same notes and the same Bike outlines. We may add optional Pro features later as an in-app purchase; nothing you have now will move behind them.
