By downloading or using FoldNotes, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the app.
About Us
FoldNotes is developed and published by Foldsoft Pty Ltd (ACN 697 343 570), a company registered in New South Wales, Australia.
Buying FoldNotes for Mac
FoldNotes for Mac is sold through our reseller and Merchant of Record, Paddle.com Market Limited (Paddle), a company registered in the United Kingdom. When you buy, Paddle is the seller: it takes your payment, issues your receipt, collects and remits any applicable sales tax or VAT, and processes refunds. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle’s Buyer Terms. Foldsoft Pty Ltd licenses the software to you and issues the licence key.
Prices are shown in US dollars on the pricing page. Two plans are offered:
- Yearly — a subscription that renews automatically every twelve months until you cancel. You may cancel at any time and keep using FoldNotes until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Lifetime — a one-time payment covering every update to FoldNotes for Mac for as long as we make it. There are no version upgrades to buy later.
Trial
FoldNotes for Mac may be used free of charge for a trial period of seven (7) days from first launch, with every feature enabled. When the trial ends, and when a yearly subscription lapses, FoldNotes continues to open, read, search and preview your notes and to export them as plain Markdown. Editing, and export to other formats (including Word, Bike packages, PDF and EPUB), require a current licence. Your files are never altered or withheld.
Licence
FoldNotes is commercial software. A valid licence or an active trial is required to edit with the macOS app.
Your licence is personal and non-transferable. You may activate it on up to three (3) Macs that you own. To use FoldNotes on a further Mac, you must first deactivate it on one of the existing three via the app’s Licence menu, or reset all activations from the same menu (limited to once every seven days). You may not share, resell, or redistribute licence keys. We may disable a key that has been refunded, charged back, or shared beyond these terms.
Refunds
See our Refund Policy. In short: fourteen (14) days on any first payment, and we ask, but do not require, that you tell us what didn’t work; unwanted renewals refunded within fourteen days if unused; and if FoldNotes does not work as described and we cannot fix it within a reasonable time, a refund regardless of when you bought.
iOS
The iOS version of FoldNotes is distributed free through the Apple App Store. Use of the iOS app is also subject to Apple’s standard terms of service. Pre-release iOS builds may additionally be distributed through Apple’s TestFlight.
Your Data
Your notes belong to you. FoldNotes stores them as plain markdown files on your device and/or in your iCloud Drive. We do not have access to your data and make no claim to it. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Acceptable Use
You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble FoldNotes, except to the extent permitted by applicable law. You may not circumvent licence validation mechanisms.
Consumer Guarantees
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy conferred by the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010) or any other applicable law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by agreement.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Foldsoft Pty Ltd is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of FoldNotes. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for your licence in the 12 months preceding the claim.
This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable mandatory consumer protection laws.
Disclaimer
Subject to any consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded by law, FoldNotes is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied. We do our best to make it reliable, but we cannot guarantee it will be error-free or uninterrupted. Back up your data.
Termination
We may terminate your licence if you breach these terms. Upon termination, you must stop using FoldNotes. Your notes remain yours — they are plain files on your device.
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via the website or email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of FoldNotes after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
